Perspex Matrix

Perspex pieces, assembled in layers to house objects

In my studio work, I have also experimented with presenting objects in layers using clear perspex. Each piece of perspex has to be cut to the exact millimeter to ensure a tight fit, as unlike wood, gaps cannot be filled. It is this precise process that makes it such a satisfying and beautiful material to work with. The process of making also complements the underpinning themes of my artwork: compartmentalisation and taxonomy.

Here, each compartment is shaped specifically to house the object. The box that contains the objects are as much a work of art as the artefacts themselves.
